  2. ACTA has to die, but sadly we will probably see a lot more of these bills in the future. We will just have to stand up for the internet and say NO.

  3. You're so right about the war not being over. Ultimately as long as corporations can influence our global political process, this shit will keep happening. :(

  4. SOPA is not dead yet, it has just been pushed back. Now in the states we have HR 1871 and ACTA, here is a link to where you can sign the US petition for ACTA: http://wowanotherrandomblog.blogspot.com/2012/01/international-sopa.html

  5. ACTA sounds pretty bad. HR1981 is another concern here in the US. Things might get messy.

  6. I don't think it's quite dead yet. Give it time and it will come in some form or another again.

  13. The whole bust of the Megaupload guys is shady business. And I agree with JOutlaw. This is just the internet equivalent of the Poll Tax.

When the Poll Tax was introduced in the early 90's, people lost their shit and rioted like crazy over it. Then the government changed it's name to 'Income Tax' and people, being the fickle beings they are, said 'Oh hey that's fine'.

Same with this SOPA thing. They'll change the name a bit, re-word the rules differently, and before you know it, it will be in place.
